The Council of the EU announced on 8 November 2019 that is has reached provisional agreement on further simplification of the VAT rules applicable to small businesses and on new rules for the exchange of VAT payment data to facilitate detection of tax fraud in cross-border e-commerce transactions. The rules will be adopted following a legal and linguistic review.
