In the VAT area, we can anticipate two significant changes over the coming year.
Already this month, the Minister of Taxation will propose an amendment to the VAT Act, which aims primarily to bring the VAT Act’s rules into line with EU rules and implement new EU VAT rules. The change must be in place by January 1, 2020 and will be reviewed in a separate Dialogue news from PwC. There will, among other things, amend the rules on set-aside, consignment stock, chain trade, etc.
Later, in January 2020, changes are introduced that implement EU rules that modernize the VAT rules for cross-border trade in goods and services. Elements of the proposal will be to abolish the VAT-free import of goods with a value below DKK 80 and harmonize the distance selling limit for EU companies’ sales to consumers.
