Sweden has adopted new changes for import VAT from 1 January 2015 | Meridian.
From 1 January 2015 Sweden has adopted new changes in relation to the collection of import VAT. The changes apply to items that are authorised by customs and need to be reported in Swedish VAT returns. It is also now the company’s responsibility to pay VAT on imports into Sweden from outside of the EU to the tax authority in Sweden instead of being paid to the Swedish Customs office which was done previously. Sweden will be more in line with EU rules and other EU countries due to this change.
