Article

Article The UAE Ministry of Finance and the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) jointly announced the launch of the pilot phase of the UAE’s Electronic Invoicing System, based on a 5-Corner Peppol architecture. The announcement was made during an awareness event held in Sharjah, part of a broader roadshow to prepare taxpayers, ERP vendors and Accredited Service Providers (ASPs) for the mandatory rollout.

The 5-Corner model builds on the well-established Peppol 4-Corner framework — sender, sender’s access point, receiver’s access point, receiver — by adding a fifth corner: the Federal Tax Authority, which receives structured invoice data in near real-time for compliance and analytics purposes. The pilot phase is a critical step in validating the technical, operational and business processes ahead of the mandatory compliance date of 1 January 2027 for in-scope businesses.
