Belgium Extends Fiscal Cash Register Compliance Deadlines Through 2029

  • Belgium’s FPS Finance has officially revised the GKS 2.0 cash register rules, replacing the old schedule with a legally phased rollout and extending compliance deadlines through 2029.
  • The modern Fiscal Data Module must transmit transaction data in real time to FPS Finance, and the rules are being expanded beyond hospitality to allow future sector-wide application.
  • New compliance dates are staggered by system age: 1 July 2026, 1 July 2027, 1 July 2028, and 1 January 2029.
  • The gradual transition is meant to avoid unfair costs and penalties for businesses still using certified legacy cash registers.
  • Data handling under the new cloud system must follow DPA safeguards, especially limits on data mining, risk profiling, and AI use.
