Webinar – Book Presentation – VAT and International Trade (May 18) by Messrs. Echevarria & Sánchez Gallardo

📘 Book Presentation | VAT and International Trade

May 18 · 4:00–5:30 PM CET · Free

Gorka Echevarría and Francisco Javier Sánchez Gallardo are presenting their book VAT and International Trade and the session is worth attending even if you haven’t read it.
The central argument is one many practitioners know intuitively but rarely see mapped out clearly: VAT in international trade isn’t just complicated it’s inconsistent. The same transaction can produce very different outcomes depending on where it happens, who the parties are, and which regime applies.

The session is built around the International VAT Heatmap developed in the book, a framework that cuts through that inconsistency by charting where VAT friction actually concentrates in cross-border flows. Place of supply, customer status, transaction type, compliance obligations… the heatmap shows how these variables interact across jurisdictions and why the results often catch teams off guard.

The agenda covers a lot of ground: imports and exports under different regimes, chain transactions, intra-EU trade, fixed establishments, digital services, deemed supplier rules, and e-invoicing as a compliance tool.
