EORI is an abbreviation for “Economic Operators Registration and Identification”. It is a mandatory number for customs clearance in the European Union, covering all customs operations such as export, import, and transit. The EORI number uniquely identifies economic operators and other individuals, and each person can only have one valid EORI number at a time. This number must be communicated to customs authorities in the EU Member States. Having one common identification number across the EU benefits both economic operators and customs authorities by improving efficiency in customs clearance, statistics, and security.
