In response to the question of whether all existing low VAT rates in agriculture, including those for animal rearing, will expire if both the 2024 Tax Plan and the amended Fiscal Collection Act are adopted, the State Secretary writes that all reduced rates related with the agricultural scheme – including the rearing of animals – will be canceled with effect from 1 January 2025. By far the most extensive application of the reduced VAT rate in agriculture remains, because the reduced rate continues to apply to all food produced by the agricultural sector. Furthermore, the reduced VAT rate on veterinary medicines continues to apply on the input side (which applies to both pets and farm animals) and on the output side the reduced rate on ornamental plant products.
