Exemption for supplies of goods and services to NATO forces

The changes required by Finland’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty would be made to the Value Added Tax Act with regard to defense activities carried out within the framework of the North Atlantic Treaty. Sales of goods and services in Finland to the defense forces of other countries belonging to the North Atlantic Treaty, as well as their imports of goods into Finland, would be exempt from VAT under certain conditions if the armed forces of these defense forces participate in joint defense activities outside their own country. The proposed law is related to Finland’s membership of the North Atlantic Alliance and is intended to enter into force as soon as possible.
