On March 16, 2023, the majority of the Bundestag decided to transfer the legislative proposal to the responsible committees, with the Finance Committee of the Bundestag taking the lead. This can certainly be seen as a step towards a permanent reduction in the VAT in the catering trade to 7% for food and services, after the transfer was decided by more than the votes of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group.
