Inland Revenue NZ spokesperson Tony Morris in his media release on 13th Dec 2022, talks about the use of Electronic Suppression Software Tools (ESST) which affects the integrity of the tax system. To protect the veracity of our tax system stiff measures were introduced into law in April 2022 which includes voluntary disclosure, penalty prosecution, fines and up to five years in prison. In Addition to that Commissioner will consider applying for the taxpayer to be put into bankruptcy or liquidation.
