The government of Botswana has reportedly implemented a package of measures to help mitigate the impact of inflation. One of the main measures is a temporary reduction in the standard VAT rate from 14% to 12%. The reduction applies for a period of 6 months beginning 1 August 2022. Other measures include VAT zero-rating for cooking oil and liquid petroleum gas during the same period.
