First Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) return and payment due July 29, 2022

Eight days to submit your first Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) return and pay.

If you were liable to register for PPT between 1 April and 30 June 2022, you’ll need to submit your first return and pay any tax due by 29 July 2022.

Your PPT return needs to cover plastic packaging your business manufactured or imported into the UK from when you became liable to 30 June 2022.

Don’t forget that:
➡️You must keep accounts and records to support the information provided when you complete your quarterly PPT return https://lnkd.in/e-9fbz9V
➡️Your accounts must show how you have worked out the figures you submit on your PPT return, and your records must show the evidence to support these figures, including evidence of any exemptions from the tax and the recycled plastic content (if 30% or more of the plastic used in the component is recycled).
➡️You must keep your accounts and records for at least 6 years from the end of the accounting period, and record weight in tonnes, kilograms, and grams.
➡️You will need to submit a PPT return to HMRC and pay any tax due every quarter https://lnkd.in/g6REUbf8
➡️Your PPT return must cover an accounting period and must include all exports made in that accounting period.
➡️You will need to pay any tax due through your online PPT account. You can pay via Direct Debit, BACS, CHAPS, Debit/Corporate credit card or Faster Payments.

For additional support you can:
➡️Read the guidance on how to complete your PPT return on GOV.UK, which includes details of the different methods you can use to calculate the weight of the plastic packaging https://lnkd.in/g6REUbf8
➡️Download our PPT flyer for a reminder of the accounting periods and deadlines for return and payment dates for 2022-23 https://lnkd.in/ebVZDxcD
➡️Watch our recorded webinars on GOV.UK and skip to the returns section https://lnkd.in/dTWtEd6a
