Five key questions about e-Receipt in Egypt

Egypt’s Ministry of Finance first announced and initiated integration of its e-Invoicing system, which covers business-to-business transactions (B2B), in 2020. Full implementation has not been completed yet, and MoF is still in the process of expanding the scope of implementation. After successful implementation of the e-invoicing system, details of the e-Receipt system (for B2C transactions) was published in April 2022.

  • 1. What is e-Receipt and what are the differences between that and an e-Invoice?
  • 2. On what date will the e-Receipt become mandatory?
  • 3. What is the e-Receipt format in Egypt?
  • 4. Will there be a digital signature and QR code for receipts?
  • 5. How does the SNI solution work?
