Belgium’s Federal Public Service (SPF) Finance has issued a release announcing that the reduced VAT rate of 6% for supplies of masks and hydroalcoholic gels has been extended to 30 June 2022 (previously to expire 31 March 2022). The release also notes that the VAT and import duty exemption on the import of goods to fight Covid-19 also applies until 30 June 2022 and takes precedence over the 6% VAT rate.

SPF Finance has also announced a reduction in the VAT rate from 21% to 6% on supplies of natural gas and heat to residential customers. The reduced rate applies from 1 April to 30 September 2022.

Lastly, SPF Finance has announced a reduction in the VAT rate to 6% for the delivery and installation of solar panels, solar water heaters, and heat pumps for residential purposes, subject to certain conditions. The 6% VAT rate applies from 1 April 2022 to 31 December 2023. In connection with this, the 6% VAT rate for the demolition and reconstruction of residential buildings is extended to 31 December 2023.
