BDO recently conducted a procedure for a development aid organization that provides facilities locally in the field of hygiene and sanitation. To this end, it raises funds in the Netherlands through sponsors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and moneylenders. In its philosophy, a contribution from the local community is crucial for the sustainability of the facilities provided. Therefore, it provides the facilities at 5%-40% of the cost price. This fee is not cost-recovery, as the local population cannot afford it, given the average income, but it can be said that in the eyes of the local population the contribution is significant. Therefore, this is not seen as a symbolic fee.
