Government pockets IDR 1.6 Trillion from Digital Tax until first semester 2021

The Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance noted that the realization of Value Added Tax (VAT) receipts for Trade Through the Electronic System (PMSE) reached Rp1.64 trillion in the first semester of 2021.

Revenue from collection and deposit by PMSE VAT Collectors this year increased by 125.2 percent or Rp. 915 billion compared to (July to December 2020)

“Receipts of PMSE VAT in the first semester of 2021 reached Rp1.64 trillion,” said Director of Extension, Services and Public Relations, Neilmaldrin Noor in his statement, Monday (12/7).

He continued, his party again appointed two companies that met the criteria as PMSE VAT collectors on foreign digital products sold to customers in Indonesia. The two business actors are PT Fashion Marketplace Indonesia (Zalora) and Pipedrive OU.

With this appointment, starting July 1, 2021, these business actors are obliged to collect VAT on digital products and services they sell to consumers in Indonesia.

The amount of VAT that must be paid by the customer is 10 percent of the price before tax and must be stated on the receipt or invoice issued by the seller as proof of VAT collection.

With the addition of two companies, the number of PMSE VAT collectors appointed by the DGT will be 75 business entities.

DGT continues to identify and actively establish communication with a number of other companies that sell digital products abroad to Indonesia to disseminate information and find out their readiness so that it is hoped that in the near future the number of business actors appointed as VAT collectors for digital products will continue to grow.
