Due to the epidemic and the need to rebuild the economy, a VAT rate reduction by 1 percentage point from 2021 could not be justified. This position was announced by the Prime Minister’s office. The proposed amendment, which is to be adopted by the government on Thursday, will link the VAT cut with “a lasting good condition of the budget”. According to the current criteria, lower rates could be introduced from January 2021.
